Dr. Lonise P. Bias is Founder/President of the non-profit organization Bias Foundation, Inc., a life investment organization that has developed community based programs supporting families, communities and youth.
She is an internationally known motivational speaker, trainer, consultant, a certified teen and family life coach. Dr. Bias has delivered powerful keynote addresses, facilitated and developed workshops for faith based, public and private sectors “bringing new solutions to old problems.”
Through the Bias Foundation she brings enduring messages of hope, inspiration, and tools to empower to the lives of youth, families, communities and those in the workplace. Two of her favorite phrases –“Hope is not Extinct,” and “The Best is Yet to Come” – symbolize her reality-based approach to today’s issues facing individuals and families of all backgrounds. She believes that positive change can happen in our communities when we use practical grass-roots methods of prevention and intervention.
Her journey has emerged from a tragedy in June of 1986 after the death of her oldest son, Len Bias a University of Md. basketball player, who died of cocaine intoxication just two days after being drafted #1 by the Boston Celtics. Forty two months later, December 1990, the Bias family experience the death of their second son Jay the victim of a drive by shooting.
Her clients include the White House ONDPC Program, Federal and local government agencies programs, men, women and youth organizations, faith based community, public and private schools and colleges, collegiate and professional sports teams, and the military (In August, 2016, she was the keynote speakers for “Women’s Equity Day” at Fort Knox Kentucky) In the spring of 2016, she was privileged to deliver the keynote address at a youth program sponsored by the Mentor Foundation in New York where Queen Sylvia of Sweden was in attendance.
As part of her mission, Dr. Bias has developed specific programs for women, men, teens and parents designed to help preserve the lives of those in the audience and to strengthen our communities.
The Foundation is dedicated to encouraging and empowering families and youth to become change agents in promoting healing, peace, unity and safety within the borders of their local community.
